A NECKLACE IS DECIDED BY ITS LENGTH
Before the stone and before the metal, a necklace is decided by where it falls. The same medallion reads as delicate at the collarbone and as a statement at mid chest — which is why many chains in this collection are offered in more than one length.
WHAT THEY ARE MADE OF
Gold necklaces are finished in 18K gold vermeil at 3 microns — six times thicker than standard plating, or in titanium with 18K gold PVD, where the gold is bonded to the metal rather than laid on top of it. Chain, clasp and pendant carry the same finish, so nothing fades at a different rate. Why 3 microns matters.
Where a stone is set, it is 100% natural: Aquamarine, Amethyst, Turquoise, Malachite, Black Onyx, Mother of Pearl and more.
THE STYLES
Pendant necklaces carry a single point of focus — a medallion, a stone, a symbol. Natural stone necklaces set the gemstone at the centre, and minimalist necklaces are fine chains made to be worn alone or layered. Statement necklaces do the opposite: one piece, and nothing else is needed.
For symbols there are the evil eye, the cross and the lion; for something personal, engravable pieces and name necklaces; and for two people, matching necklace sets.
FOR WOMEN AND FOR MEN
Browse necklaces for women or necklaces for men. Women's chains tend to sit higher, from 40 to 50 cm; men's lower, from 50 to 60 cm, and in heavier links.
CHOOSING THE LENGTH
40 cm sits at the base of the neck, 45 cm at the collarbone and 50 cm just below it. 60 to 65 cm, the Matinee length, falls at mid chest and is the length to wear over knitwear; 70 cm, the Opera length, falls lower still.
Where a chain lists “+5”, it includes a 5 cm extender, so a 40 cm necklace can also be worn at 45. Full size guide.
HOW TO LAYER THEM
Leave at least 5 cm between necklaces so each has its own line, and let the longest carry the heaviest pendant. Keep one metal tone and vary the texture — a fine chain, a stone, a medallion. Two or three necklaces is the natural limit.
HOW TO CARE FOR THEM
Put a necklace on after perfume and take it off before sleeping, swimming or training — a chain is the piece most likely to tangle and the one most exposed to skin, cream and water. Fasten the clasp before storing it, and keep it in its own box.
